The Hope Squads of Hope4Utah

A probate and genealogical research firm that employs a team of experts with over 500 years of experience between them, Kemp & Associates locates lost heirs and helps them claim assets of estates that would otherwise be handed over to the government. Outside of its professional endeavors, Kemp & Associates works with a number of charities, including Hope4Utah, a nonprofit focused on suicide prevention.

Hope Squads-- which are teams of students who observe the behavior of other students in their schools--are among Hope4Utah’s main tools in identifying students who may be at risk. Specially trained to be able to identify the warning signs of suicidal behavior, the students in Hope Squads are selected by peers and school advisors due to their trustworthiness.

While they do not act as counselors to students, Hope Squad members are trained to report to adults signs of suicide contemplation in fellow students with the level of tact and compassion such a delicate issue requires. Further, they often provide friendship to students who may be contemplating suicide.
